  Kord Stone

Book Three in The Imortum series.

Jerren Stone, a former US Air Force Pararescuemen has spent years protecting and rescuing those in danger. Now Jerren becomes the new commander of Time Dilation Ship five (TDS 5) and finds himself coming to the rescue of the Artificial Intelligence aboard the ship, who has been tortured and abused for countless years. Once bonded with the ship, the AI is given a new outlook on life, as well as a smoking hot body. Now Jerren finds that he’s the one in danger… of losing his hardened heart that is.

The AI aboard TDS 5 had endured extreme torture at the hands of her former commander, but when that commander is removed from existence, and a new commander takes her place, the AI is in for a few surprises, one of which is that “It,” becomes a “She,” with the new name “Eneria”, and She finds herself sexually attracted to the overly protective new commander.

Together they’ll explore the bounds of human-AI sensuality, while dealing with a deadly foe that threatens to destroy all who oppose them.

  Prologue

Jerren Stone is the middle brother of triplets, and he and his younger brother Justin had been pulled out of time moments before they had been murdered. As it turned out, their eldest brother Jason had been at the triplet’s favorite campsite one year to the day of Jerren and Justin’s deaths mourning them, when an air craft appeared to have crashed in the reservoir nearby.

Jason had rushed to the pilots aid, and upon entering the ship, the mortally wounded commander transferred command of Time Dilation Ship one, otherwise known as TDS 1 to Jason, via a binding disk before dying.

Jason had been trapped inside the vessel for nearly a week without food or water before he applied the binding disk to his head and passed out.

When Jason awoke, he was able to speak with the Artificial Intelligence aboard TDS 1, Her name was Alise, short for Advanced Lifeform Integrated Synaptic Escort, and found that Jason’s entire family had been targeted for execution.

Being as though Jason was now the commander of a time traveling space ship, Jason and Alise had devised a plan to rescue Jerren, their youngest triplet Justin and the rest of the family.

After rescuing the family Jason and Alise found that the person attempting to kill them was in command of a ship exactly like TDS 1. That ship was TDS 5, and though TDS 5 was connected to the same master control room as the other four ships had once been, there was no way to board that ship as long as the current commander was still in charge.

It was found that aside from TDS 1 and TDS 5 the master control room was also connected to one powered down ship TDS 3 and two ships that had been destroyed thousands of years earlier, along with a Stasis chamber. Jason had talked Jerren in to becoming the commander of TDS 3 if it was able to be powered up, but it ended up being their younger triplet Justin who became that ships commander.

Both TDS 1 and TDS 3 had been plagued by attacks on them by a consortium of interstellar pirates. The last attack was supposed to be an ambush while TDS 3 was on the pyramids generator beam charging, but Justin had found the phased explosives before arriving at the planet Daregon, and after Jason used TDS 1 to destroy the phased mines, both Jason and Justin set a trap for the consortium.

Jerren had been in the master control room when the consortium showed up to collect their spoils, but the consortiums plot didn’t go the way they had planned. Despite repeated warnings to leave the TDS ship alone, the Consortium attacked TDS 3, so Jason dropped TDS 1 out of phase, and together with TDS 3, most of the consortium ships had been destroyed.

The remaining consortium vessels had scattered and Alise had attached tracking probes to the twelve fleeing ships moments before the consortium detonated a type of atomic weapon, and when the energy wave hit TDS 1 and TDS 3, the surge of power coursed through the master control room briefly showing that TDS 2 and TDS 4 had not been destroyed as they had believed, but merely so low on energy, th
at the ships didn’t register on their display walls.

After the attack, TDS 3 managed to get recharged, and the triplets along with the AI’s were discussing their next step when, at the urging of an ancient Imortum the triplets had known in their youth as their imaginary friend Inola, the group had been encouraged to reset the Toralins, and the consortium they belonged to.

Seeing that TDS 5 was headed for the consortium planet Toralis, Jason, Alise, Justin, Calia and Jerren came up with a plan to perform a Geomagnetic pulse or GMP on the planet, and TDS 5 at the same time.

When TDS 1 and TDS 3 arrived at Toralis, they found that in addition to TDS 5, the planet had been encompassed by thousands upon thousands of ships, so it was decided to perform a greater magnitude GMP to knock out the ships as well as the planets technology base.

Calia, the AI aboard TDS 3 performed the GMP because one of her past commanders had done it, and she was the only one with experience in doing so.

The electromagnetic pulse rebounded through TDS 5 into the master control room and TDS 5 fled for the planet Serqalin. When the pulse hit TDS 5 the display walls for TDS 2 and TDS 4 lit up once again.

This time the display walls stayed active long enough for Jerren who had been residing in the master control room, to call for Jason and Justin along with their AI’s to get a location on the ships.

At that point it was decided to follow TDS 5 and keep that ship on the run, and pushing their ships as fast as they could, TDS 1 and TDS 3 would arrive at Serqalin over a week ahead of TDS 5, and once there Jason, Alise, Justin and Calia were going to set a trap and perform another GMP on Serqalin when TDS 5 arrived in orbit.

  Chapter One

The artificial intelligence aboard TDS 5 monitored the communications in silence while its commander Enyali argued with her nephew.

“I don’t care how many ships you’ve lost! We need to get those Time Dilation Ships out of commission. I’ve spent thousands of years setting traps for them and feeding you information, and you repeatedly let them slip away! And now it looks as though Atlas’s ship is fully operational again. How hard is it for your minions to destroy a single ship?”

Horuisis’s disgruntled voice bellowed back over the communications, “You know very well how durable those damned ships are you Bit! … Never mind, I just spoke with grandfather, he told me I’m to give you any resources you need. You’re to use one of our new bombs, but I’m not happy about it. I only have three of the prototypes at the moment, and they’re untested.

“Once you arrive here, your pet can collect the armor you wanted us to make for him, afterward I will send one of the bombs off to the Baeton home world.

“You can do whatever you wish to draw the TDS ships there and then detonate the bomb when they arrive. Just make sure to record the effects so we’ll know if we have to increase the yield or not. It will take about a week for our ship to get around the Asharan void, and I’ll send another hundred ships with you. Try not to get them destroyed this time.”

“Get the ships and bomb moving now,” Enyali grumbled. “I’ll be there in a little over a week to pick up my mother and I don’t wish to stay there any longer than I have to. And there’s no need for the armor anymore, my pet is dead. I will need to recharge this ship at Anukan and I’ll meet your ships in the Baetus nebula afterward.”

  *****

TDS 5 was a few minutes from arriving in orbit of Serqalin to pick up Enyali’s mother, and the AI was on the observation level reviewing the scan data, and peering at the active telemetry showing the remaining ships in orbit. Clearly something was wrong. The AI had scanned the planet shortly before TDS 5 arrived as Enyali instructed it to.

The AI observed the normal cocoon of ships surrounding the planet. Within a nanosecond of arriving in the solar system however, almost all of the vessels were gone. The AI did not know why it did it, but it erased the original telemetry from the databank and performed another scan.

The AI had just transported Enyali’s mother Nuit aboard, and a second later Horuisis’s voice boomed throughout the ship, “What the… where are all my damned ships? You led them here you bitch!”

“What are you talking about? My scan shows only your ship and ten others here when I arrived. I was out of phase all the way here, and nobody could have tracked me!” Enyali snapped back.

A moment later Enyali shouted, “BOT! … Get in here now!”

The AI ignored Enyali at first, and then took its time in responding after Enyali yelled its name the second and third times. The AI reluctantly transferred its consciousness into a body knowing what it was in store for, and standing in front of Enyali, the AI waited for her typical rage to take over.

Enyali’s face was red and she had spittle forming at the side of her mouth, “When I call you…” Enyali hit the AI across the face, “You come immediately…” and she jacked the AI up against the wall. “Understood!?”

The AI cast its eyes downward, knowing full well that if it made eye contact it would drive Enyali even more insane, and in a monotone replied, “As you wish Commander. What service can Bot perform for you?”

“My nephew says there were more ships here when we arrived. What happened to them? Why aren’t they on my scans?”

The AI knew it would receive punishment for what it was about to say but decided to say it anyway. “Bot performed the scan you ordered before our arrival. When we arrived in orbit of Serqalin the only ships in orbit were your Illustrious and benevolent nephew’s and ten others.” The AI worded its statement so it did not lie to the commander.

Enyali grasped the AI by the throat, squeezed with all her might and twisted as she yelled, “Are you calling my nephew a liar?” A moment later there was a snapping jolt, and the body the AI’s consciousness had been projected into fell dead on the floor then disappeared.

A moment later Enyali yelled, “BOT! Get back here now!”

Once again the ship created a new body and the AI projected its consciousness into it, and with a bow of submission the AI said, “Bot’s will is yours to comman—”

One second the AI was kneeling in submission and the next it had been thrown to the wall. The ship’s power fluctuated and they were hurling into deep space as the mass of relics littering the ship rained down on the AI’s newly created body killing it once again.

The lights were flickering and the AI was tempted to just let the ships systems fail, but its programming prevented self-sacrifice. So the AI created yet another body, projected its consciousness into it and got to work on righting the ship.

After Enyali healed the injuries both she and her mother had sustained after TDS 5 had been flung into deep space, Enyali spent the rest of her time berating the AI about its incompetence and how the other bot on TDS 3 would never have made the mistakes it does.

Sighing inwardly the AI turned to Enyali and with a submissive bow stated, “The ship’s systems are functional once again. Does the commander wish me to set a course back to Serqalin?” The AI knew Enyali was a coward and would not return there. Not without a lot of ships to back her up at least, and the AI waited while Enyali decided where to go next.

Enyali said, “No…set a course for Anukan… Mother wishes to see Father and we need to recharge this ship.”

“As you command. Is there any other service Bot can render before Bot leaves this body?” the AI said, looking at the cluttered floor.

Enyali paused a moment and the AI resisted the urge to look up at her.

“Yes, that incident we encountered at Serqalin caused a mess… Clean it up!” Enyali barked out.

“As you command.” The AI Bowed and moved backward away from Enyali and out of the room, making sure not to look directly at the commander, all the while trying not to trip over the debris.

  Chapter Two

Jerren was in the master control room pretty much twiddling his thumbs and staring at the TDS 5 display wall making sure they didn’t change their heading from Anukan, as he thought over the events of the past day
s, for him at least.

Alise had a probe following one of the ships that attacked TDS 3 while in orbit of Daregon, and it just happened to have returned to Serqalin. Once TDS 1 was in range of the probe, it was found that the planet was encompassed by interlocking ships the same as Toralis, and the space surrounding it was mined with hundreds of thousands of conventional explosive mines, as well as three dark matter bombs, then one of the dark matter bombs had been scooped up and sent out of the solar system.

Jerren cringed at the thought of what almost happened to his brothers and their AI’s when they detonated the dark matter bomb that had been sent off with an armada of ships following it.

The blast had been immense and almost killed the four of them, not that Jerren had been immune. The energy wave surged through the master control room as well, and shocked the hell out of him.

Jerren reached over to take a sip of water and an electrical discharge surged from his finger tips to the console and the discharge brought back to mind being hit by a ships energy weapon just after he thrust the last dark matter bomb aboard TDS 1.

Jerren still couldn’t understand how he survived the blast, because even with his DNA being altered to absorb energy, that ships weapons discharge had been extreme, and even several days later his body still seemed to glow and he had energy surging from him, not to mention, looking at his reflection, Jerren found that his eyes were now glowing brightly like stars.

Jerren checked TDS 5’s heading once again, and finding it hadn’t changed since the last time he looked at it, he leaned back and stretched. A moment later he jumped when his younger brother Justin’s voice called out for him.

“Yes, what’s up?” Jerren asked of Justin, but there was no response. Jerren attempted to call over to Justin a few times, but his communications appeared to be down again. He was about to call Jason to see if he knew what was up when Jason beat him to it.
